Watch how our male peregrine stands, head bowed, completely still, then flies off. 90seconds later the female wadles over and stands in the nest scrape. We then see her scrape with her legs and move stones around the nest platform. It won't be long now before we can expect eggs to be laid. preparing

Derby Cathedral in the UK is home to a pair of peregrines. Here we see three clips of the egg-laying moment, made over a ten minute period on 28th March 2008. The male flies in as soon as the egg is laid, but is seen off by the female who isn't yet ready to show off the new arrival.

Third mating sequence filmed at dawn (05:30) on Derby Cathedral, England. This sequence was shot from a new webcamera installed by staff from Derby Museum & Art Gallery on the top of the 470 year old tower. This sequence was captured a day after the female laid her first egg of the season in March 2008.

An adult peregrine on Derby Cathedral retrieves food that it has cached right rathre too close to our new web camera. At first we thought it was tearing at the camera cables, but a later flurry fo feathers showed it was plucking its latest meal.
